Position OverviewThe Melting Furnace Engineer is responsible for the design, operation, and maintenance of melting furnaces used in the production of various materials. This role requires a strong technical background in furnace technology, along with the ability to manage projects and ensure safety and environmental compliance.Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop melting furnaces for glass and precious metals.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of melting furnaces to ensure efficient performance.
- Implement and monitor safety and environmental compliance procedures in the melting process.
- Develop test procedures for evaluating furnace performance and efficiency.
- Manage projects related to furnace design and upgrades, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Supervise and train staff on machinery operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate melting systems with existing production processes.
- Utilize CAD software to create and modify furnace designs and layouts.
- Conduct refractory design and material selection for optimal furnace performance.
- Manage precious metal inventory and logistics related to melting operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in glass melting and platinum design processes.
- Proficient in CAD software for design and development.
- Familiarity with ASME standards related to furnace construction and operation.
- Experience with Maximo and PRINCESS for project management and maintenance tracking.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in team management and training.
- Knowledge of accounting principles relevant to budgeting and project management.
- Proven experience in performance management and implementing 5S and TPM methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across departments.
