Our new integrated center on the Lower East Side reunites our school and museum in one space to become the cultural anchor of Essex Crossing.Position Summary:The Membership Manager at ICP oversees a loyal base crucial for sustaining the Museum and School's budget through lifetime value and recurring revenue. They drive engagement among current and prospective members to boost annual revenue, crafting strategies that enhance member visitation, renewals, and ancillary purchases such as retail, classes, and travel. Managing the acquisition, stewardship, and retention of members, the Manager collaborates strategically with Development, Visitor Services, Public Programs, Marketing, and Education teams to achieve membership growth and support. Additionally, they spearhead annual fund appeals and expand the donor base for sustained financial backing.Essential Functions and Duties:Fundraising & Campaign Strategies
- Evaluate, develop, and build a two-year plan to shift the membership program to a more sustainable future model, utilizing independent judgment to formulate and execute engagement and retention strategies, including budget management and channel planning.
- Deliver annual strategically aligned plan of initiatives and activities to engage and retain the Museum's member base (inclusive of events communications, content, and on-site experiences); oversees the implementation and optimization of initiatives.
- Develop quarterly testing plan to refine engagement strategy and communication cadence.
- Coordinate and execute the annual fund campaign to maximize financial support.
- Manage the rental and exchange of the museum's mailing list.
- Provide resources, train and work with visitor experience staff to increase member conversion. Develop an incentive plan to encourage sales.
- Oversee implementation of all member communications including monthly membership renewals, lapse and upgrade appeals, member e-news, marketing campaigns, acquisitions and membership brochure; participate in promotion and content development.
- Coordinate with Marketing department and outside vendors on content, design, and production for print and online membership collateral, including social media campaigns for membership and Annual Fund.
- Under the guidance of the Associate Director of Individual Giving, create and execute strategies and action plans that strengthen relationships with current members and encourage members to upgrade to patron and major giving levels.
Membership Program Management
- Manage membership program, fulfilling all benefits, including events, member premiums, cards and weekly acknowledgment letters.
- Develop strategies of renewal process in a timely manner including mail, phone and email.
- Evaluate existing membership benefits and premiums and propose innovative events and programs for current members as well as prospects.
- Take a lead role in planning and implementing all member and patron events, including developing communications plan, coordinating logistics with appropriate departments, establishing RSVP procedures and monitoring response.
- Contributes to the strategic development and production of lists and communications for solicitation and stewardship on all channels (mail, email, phone, etc.) giving special attention to mid-level and long-time members.
- Develop and track metrics and success criteria for membership programs and Annual Fund campaigns, continually assessing their effectiveness and reporting regularly to the development team.
- Develop Alumni initiatives with School for membership retention.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support the Associate Director of Individual Giving in managing patron/committee events and logistics.
- Provide support for other departmental projects, including exhibition openings and gala events.
- Support the overall goals and initiatives of the Development team, contributing to a collaborative work environment.
- Maintain accurate records and databases related to events, donors, and sponsors
- Build supportive, collaborative relationships with ICP program staff to ensure accountability for gifts and donors.
- Keep abreast of the latest trends and developments in museum membership models and the art world.

- B.A. degree required. Higher degree preferred.
Experience Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of development experience; knowledge of the visual arts world preferred.
- Proven experience with membership program management.
- Experience of fundraising and solicitating donations.
- Experience working with data and applying business insights to drive results.

- Campaign Coordination & Fundraising

- Cross-Departmental Collaboration

- Renewal & Retention Strategies
Proficient in managing membership renewals across multiple channels (mail, phone, email), while evaluating membership benefits and proposing innovative strategies to enhance renewal rates and member satisfaction.
- Data Management & Reporting

- Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
