- The position of Mental Health Assessor is responsible for Provides Comprehensive Needs Assessments and referral to services for adults and children. The assessment includes information about problems, symptoms, functioning, history, mental status, substance use and other information and includes formulating diagnoses to determine current needs and eligibility for services. Assessment process also includes using related assessment tools, i.e., WHODAS, DLA-20, ACES, PHQ-9 and others.
- Offers consultative services regarding mental health, substance use, and intellectual disability issues to referrals and the general public.
- Participates on committees and groups in community planning activities and programs as assigned.
- Maintains complete, accurate, and current clinical records; prepares various reports and evaluations as requested by supervisor, the judicial system and other agencies; performs routine scanning/attaching of documents; receives and answers general correspondence and inquiries.
- Consults regularly with other staff members; participates in scheduled staffing and case conferences; attends in-service training sessions within and outside of the Agency.
- Supervises student interns and volunteers as assigned by the MH Outpatient Coordinator.
Requirements
- Position is virtual; employee must have audio/video telecommunication/internet access in a private/confidential space for the provision of scheduled services. Staff may connect to their personal network to access the Internet: however, due to variations in technology IT will not provide configuration support for personal network. IT will ensure that the agency issued laptop has the capability to connect to standard wired and wireless networks.
- Master's Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology , or related field; full professional licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a counselor, clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist or psychologist to provide clinical assessment, counseling and diagnostic services within the Commonwealth of Virginia. Two years of clinical experience is required.
- Must maintain additional trainings as required by regulatory and/ or licensing entities.
