For more information, please view the 2024 Total Rewards Guide. The Counselor, Mental Health & Wellness offers clinical mental health assessments, intervention and crises management. This role develops and oversees health & wellness programming and conducts outreach tailored to the unique needs of Marquette University dental students. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Conduct individual and group psychotherapy/counseling sessions for dental students. 2. Conduct initial intake assessments and triage for dental students seeking mental health support to determine appropriate mental health intervention, treatment plan, or referral. 3. Engage with the Clinical Training Director of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology Department and supervise Counseling interns to support in the counseling and programming efforts for dental students. 4. Manage administrative responsibilities including basic financial /budget activities within department/college, documentation, appointment scheduling, community referral follow-up in keeping with departmental policies and professional standards. 5. Assist students on clinic floor with their interaction with patients. 6. Develop, oversee, and evaluate mental health and wellness programming and outreach tailored to the unique needs of MU dental students. 7. Counseling Center Liaison Engage with the Counseling Center leadership/staff to identify and provide referral resources to students. Engage with the Counseling Center leadership/staff to provide faculty and staff education when interacting with students who have mental health concerns. 8. Consult with colleagues, deans, departments, faculty, staff, student groups and community as needed. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Master of Social Work from CSWE accredited graduate program, or Masters degree in mental health counseling from CACREP accredited graduate program. LCSW, LPC, or LMFT licensed by the State of Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. Three (3) years experience in the practice of social work, community, or hospital mental health counseling. Ability to work independently and to prioritize and execute multiple tasks consistent with assigned timeline. Ability to work in a team environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups. Demonstrated attention to detail, professional attitude, and ability to maintain confidentiality and meet documentation requirements. Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ph.D in Social work, mental health counseling, or clinical psychology. One (1) year clinical work experience working in a multidisciplinary mental health setting. Clinical experience working in an integrated healthcare setting. Clinical experience working with a young adult population and/or university counseling center. Supervisory experience preferred.
