Mental Health Counselor (MHC) - school based - virtual Location: Salt Lake City, Utah Job Type: Contract/Temp Work Site: Remote Category: School Services Skills: BOE Pay Min: $50 - Pay Max: $55/Per Hour Duration: 2 Weeks Shift: Position: 292790 Job Description RCM Health Care is looking for a VIRTUAL school based Mental Health Counselor for students who attend a virtual school in Utah. This is a caseload building position, and we request for you to have some day time availability to attend IEP meetings. As a School Based Mental Health Provider, you will be part of an inter-disciplinary team focusing on the student's success withing multiple settings. The provider will work in collaboration with school personnel, students, families, and other team members to facilitate the stabilization of behaviors or mental health needs within the school and community settings. The School Based Mental Health Provider will have a flexible schedule with services being provided during the school day as well as after hours or weekends as needed. The provider will work respectfully with a culturally diverse population of clients. Duties and responsibilities Work collaboratively with school personnel and other team members to provide an integrated program of education and mental health services and supports inclusive academic, social-emotional, and behavioral programming within an ecologically based model. Provide Psychotherapy or Therapeutic Behavior Services to facilitate client stabilization Provide individual services Qualifications Master's degree with mental health license preferred or School Social Worker License MUST have Board license or DOE certification Knowledge and understanding of mental health diagnoses, symptomotology and treatment programming of K-12 students Experience working with behaviorally/emotionally challenged children (K-12 grades). Knowledge and understanding of trauma informed psychotherapeutic practices Communicate accurately and effectively both verbal and written. Demonstrate effective decision-making skills and utilize good judgement. Knowledge of mental health services in the community. Work professionally, effectively, and collaboratively with others. Coordinate and complete the mental health assessment virtually Utilize knowledge of student in treatment planning. Actively engage with school personnel with open and on-going communication Assist with the assessment, management, and resolution of crisis situations with clients and their families during day and/or after hours. Provide training to school personnel regarding mental health diagnosis and interventions as requested Provide transition planning with client, family, and team members Participate in staff meetings/development activities, parent conferences, and team meetings as scheduled or assigned, including IEP meetings as requested Complete and maintain all required paperwork in a timely manner in accordance with all agency policies and procedures. Complete assigned duties competently and within expected time frames, including outcome measures Assess and determine referral to Evaluation and Management services as need Physical requirements Ability to use a computer and keyboard (hand-eye coordination and repetitive movements related to keyboarding). Requirements Maintain a current and valid certificate/license. Understand and utilize telehealth services Adhere to ethical practices when assisting students with personal care including hygiene and grooming. Utilize safe work practices for self and others. Intermediate computer skills. Ability to be well organized and utilize effective time management skills. As a representative of the agency and profession, present self with decorum and in dress that is appropriate. Display professionalism and team-oriented attitudes.
