Position Description
The Mental Health Clerk is responsible for handling and filing all paperwork regarding mental health for the Harris County Clerk's Office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Answers phones regarding mental health and warrant information.
* Enters patient and applicant information into the computer.
* Proofs all paperwork before it is filed.
* Prepares dockets for court.
* Attends all court hearings for Probable Cause, Commitment and Chemical Dependency.
* Keeps a log of all warrants filed with the clerk's office.
* Other duties as assigned at the discretion of the Director of Probate.

Requirements
All applicants must register and take the HRRM Clerical Skills Test and score a minimum of 85% with a typing speed of 35 W.P.M. and 80% accuracy.

Education and Experience:
* High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution and
* Minimum of one (1) year of paid clerical work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Basic proficiency skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
* Must be detail oriented.
* Must have good prioritization and organizational skills.
* Ability to work as a team player and work well with others.
* Ability to work overtime without prior notification and work flexible hours as required.
* Ability to handle multiple phone lines and multi task.
* Ability to display Compassion and understanding.
