Job Description Summary The Counseling and Wellness Center provides free short-term counseling to SF students, as well as crisis intervention and outreach. We are part of the Trauma Response Team at Santa Fe College, offering comfort and identifying helpful services. We also offer QPR training to reduce suicidal behavior and save lives. We are seeking dedicated and dynamic student employees to assist with college events and student workshops as the Mental Health Peer Ambassador. **This part-time position requires flexibility, primarily maintaining availability between Monday through Friday.
Job Description Responsibilities and Duties Include: - Represents Santa Fe College and the Counseling and Wellness Center during college events while promoting campus resources.
- Engages in outreach activities including tabling with informational materials on mental health topics to specific groups on campus.
- Conducts educational workshops to students in English and/or Spanish on mental wellness topics including depression, anxiety, consent, and self-care.
- Holds informal sessions with students encouraging overall wellness and self-care.
- Engages in social media posting to promote wellness and mental health events.
- Works alongside counselors of the Counseling and Wellness Center to promote Center at college events.
- Strictly honors the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
- Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Required: Must be a currently enrolled SF student, in good academic and behavioral standing, taking six (6) or more credit hours.
Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.
Preferred: Career goals aligned with psychology, social work, mental health, public health, education etc., as well as previous volunteer experience. Public speaking skills or an interest in developing public speaking skills.
