Job Summary:Locations: Methodist Hospital (8303 Dodge Street, Omaha NE)Methodist Women's Hospital (707 N 190th Plaza, Elkhorn, NE)Perform mental health assessments to patients in Methodist and Women's hospital Emergency Dept. evenings, overnights, weekends & Holidays. Casual position where therapist is on call and must respond within one hour. Staff get to select their on-call shifts.
Responsibilities:Essential Job FunctionsProvides direct patient care by conducting psychotherapy with individuals, groups, families, and couples in order to help patient's achieve goals and solve problems outlined on the treatment plan.
- Establishes and maintains a therapeutic rapport.
- Uses safe, appropriate, effective interventions.
- Respect professional and ethical boundaries. Stays within bounds of education, training, experience and licensure.
Develops problems, goals and interventions reflecting the patient's needs as identified by appropriate patient assessments in order to assure that the patient's continuing care needs are adequately addressed.
- Identifies problems from appropriate assessments, e.g., internal carotid artery (ICA), Primary progressive aphasia (PPA), Nurse's Admission Assessment, progress notes, physician/family/patient interviews, etc.
- All active problems are identified and addressed with appropriate goals and interventions.
- Goals and interventions are behaviorally specific, measurable, and time-limited.
Documents the patient's progress relative to treatment by describing the patient's ongoing behaviors reflecting the status of problems identified in the patient's treatment plan; the therapist's interventions targeting changes in those behaviors; and the patient's actual responses to those interventions, in order to facilitate an ongoing treatment planning process.
- Documentation is consistent, relevant, thorough, concise, and behaviorally descriptive.
Seeks continuous improvement of professional knowledge, expertise, and clinical skills by participating in formal and informal training and education in order to assure that interventions are appropriate and effective for the clinical population assigned.
- Seeks and shares ideas and information to improve clinical skills.
- Completes Continuing Education Units (CEU)'s needed to maintain professional licensure.
- Completes all mandatory inservices.
- Provides appropriate supervision and/or training assistance to graduate students, e.g., class work, practicum.
Facilitates multidisciplinary treatment planning processes by conducting multidisciplinary treatment planning meetings in accordance with Major Complication and Comorbidities (MCC) Behavioral Health department policies and procedures to assure appropriate, coordinated care and treatment of the patient's continuing care needs.
- Inpatient/Partial Hospitalization Managed Health Program (MHP)'s: completes all Multidisciplinary Treatment Team responsibilities.
- Residential Managed Health Program (MHP)'s: completes all staffing responsibilities.
- Outpatient Managed Health Program (MHP)'s: Actively consults with all relevant disciplines to coordinate care and treatment.
Provides appropriate care specific to the age of the patient, to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment, as outlined in the age specific criteria.

Promotes a culture of safety.
- Assures compliance with The Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.
- Monitors on an ongoing basis environmental safety issues and appropriate interventions.
- Assures completion and follow-up on Variance Reports and Patient/Family concerns.
- Participates in identification, analysis, reduction and evaluation of risk issues.
- Reports issues/trends to Service Executive.

- Participates in mandatory in services and continuing education programs as mandated by policies and procedures, external agencies and as directed by supervisor.
Experience- Clearance through Child Protective Service Central.
- Practitioner may not function outside the scope of his or her licensure. The practitioner may not perform tasks, whether or not at the direction of a supervising/consulting physician, administrator, or other practitioner, which are reserved to other personnel by virtue of their licensure or Methodist Health System policies.
License/Certifications- Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) license in the State of Nebraska required.
