Job Description:
Education: Masters degree in Counseling, Social Work preferred. Bachelors degree in those or related fields also considered. Job Summary: Provide services related to student social, emotional, academic, and life functions and overall well-being. Establish positive, trusting, supporting relationships as a foundation to effectively serving students and their families. Provide resources and teach strategies that promote social skills, peer and adult connection, and individual capacity in a variety of social-emotional, self-advocacy, and school-related competencies. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: Establish and maintain trusting, collaborative, professional relationships with all students. Conduct informal assessments and screenings to identify students in need of mental health support. Provide direct practice lessons and services that foster social and emotional competency to individuals and groups. Mobilize school and community resources to maximize student academic and behavior success; Identify and connect community services to staff, students, and families. Provide social-emotional support and counseling related services to individuals, groups, or families. Demonstrate cultural competency and trauma-informed practices in daily interactions. Collaborate with SAIL Center staff and school campuses to enhance student learning, attendance, and skill sets. Contribute to a safe, healthy, and collaborative work and learning culture at the SAIL Center. Provide specialized services such as crisis intervention, individual coaching and/or counseling, and consultation as needs arise. Collaborate with SAIL Center staff to track student progress toward individualized social-emotional and life skills goals. Collaborate with the mental health coordinator and broader district mental health team to provide comprehensive district-wide services and further develop professionally. Maintain student confidentiality and the highest ethical and professional standards. Other duties as assigned. Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. Ability to manage emotions and provide emotional support during stressful circumstances. Terms of Employment: Nine (9) months, academic school year Evaluation: Written evaluation by the SAIL Coordinator in collaboration with Administrative Liaison.
