Northern Pines Mental Health Center is seeking a Mental Health Professional or Clinical Trainee to join our Mobile Crisis Outreach team. Travel throughout our six-county region will be required. The purpose of this position is to triage crisis calls and provide mental health assessments for evaluation of any immediate needs or crisis situations. Dedicated Professionals will provide ongoing consultation to their team. MCO staff work in teams with rotating shifts. Some holidays and on call shifts per month will be required.
Essential Functions include:
Provide consultation to staff regarding crisis situations
Provide training to staff regarding assessments in crisis situations
Conduct crisis assessments, an immediate, face-to-face evaluation to: identify any immediate need for emergency services, determine that the recipients behavior is a serious deviation from his/her baseline level of functioning and caused by either a mental health crisis or emergency, provide immediate intervention to relieve the recipients distress
Determine the need for crisis intervention services, or referrals to other resources, based on crisis assessments
Promptly provide crisis interventions, face-to-face, short-term, intensive mental health services provided during a mental health crisis or emergency in order to help recipients: cope with stressors, identify and use available resources, avoid unnecessary hospitalization and loss of independent living, develop action plans, begin to return to his/her baseline level of functioning
Develop culturally appropriate crisis intervention treatment plans with clients and update as necessary
Refer clients to different/ additional mental health services
Provide crisis stabilization services: mental health services, provided after crisis intervention, to help the recipient return his/her functioning to the level it was before the crisis by: considering the crisis assessment and intervention treatment plan, consider the need for further assessment and referrals, update the crisis stabilization treatment plan, provide supportive counseling, conduct skills training, collaborate with other service providers in the community, provide education regarding mental illness support to the recipients people network
Qualifications include:
A Masters Degree in the behavioral sciences field
Independent license in the state of Minnesota (LICSW, LMFT, LP, Psychiatric Nurse, LPCC). License-seeking trainees are encouraged to apply! Supervision is available!
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Electronic Records Compliance
Travel is a function of both roles; ability to operate a motor vehicle and valid drivers license is required
