Mental Health Therapist Ypsilanti, Michigan, United States Student Life Academic & Student Affairs Staff Full Time Opening on: Aug 30 2024 Closing on: Sep 14 2024 Title: Mental Health Therapist Employee Classification: PE - Professional/Technical Exempt Pay Grade: PT 09 Division: Academic and Student Affairs Subdivision: Counseling and Psych Services Department: Student Life Campus Location: Main Campus General Summary Provide individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, outreach programming, training and supervision, consultation, and other support services to the campus community. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Provide short-term psychotherapy to EMU students with psychological and developmental concerns. Consult with University personnel, parents, and others as needed in the therapy process. Provide clinical assessments and DSM diagnoses for clinic patients. Utilize appropriate crisis management and debriefing skills to handle individual and campus emergencies. Provide clinical supervision to unlicensed or limited licensed therapists in Counseling and Psychological Services. Develop and implement outreach programs to assist Eastern Michigan University students in maintaining psychological health and related behavior. Participate in new student orientation and other programs to support student engagement, development, and retention. Provide consultation to other campus departments as requested by the CAPS Director. Prepare accurate, timely reports and other documentation relevant to clinical work. Willingness and ability to work within a brief therapy model. Perform related departmental duties as required by the Director. Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in clinical social work, clinical or counseling psychology, clinical mental health counseling, or college counseling is required. If master's program is in social work, it must be a CSWE accredited program. If master's is in clinical mental health or college counseling, it must be from a CACREP-accredited program. Demonstrated training and clinical experience in mental health counseling is required. Three years of experience providing psychotherapy is required. State of Michigan master's level license in clinical social work or counseling is required (if limited license, must obtain full license in Michigan within one year of hire). Demonstrated sensitivity to multi-cultural issues and an ability to relate to diverse and underrepresented populations is required. Eligibility to provide clinical supervision within one year of hire is required. Preferred Qualifications: Experience providing psychotherapy to a college population is preferred.
