We have an opening for a Care Assistant, in our Opelika location, to help provide supervision and ensure the safety of our consumers at our residential facilities. This position includes direct care of our individuals living in a residential group home. Duties include meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, personal care, medication administration, accurately and timely document logbooks and activities, and transportation of clients (with approved driving record). Assigned duties are as listed below. Consumer Care: Supervises consumer activities, including completion of daily chores, outings, training, grooming, bathing, toileting, meal-time activities. Ensures consumer safety. Follows a schedule of activities. Assists consumers as needed. Monitors consumer physical and mental health, ensuring that consumer needs are met and maintained. Assists consumers as needed, to include lifting and other physical intervention as needed. May administer consumer medication as prescribed by a physician and accompany consumer to medical appointments. Reports and documents incidents and/or unusual problems to supervisory or on-call staff. Models appropriate social skills. Ensures consumer rights are observed and protected. Ensures consumer clothing needs are met and that consumers are provided a suitable living environment. Completes program chores as assigned; i.e. sweeping, dusting, cooking, shopping, washing and drying consumer clothing, changing linen. Assists with menu planning, following menus approved by dietician (when making substitutions to menus ensures approval by dietician), and preparation of meals. Ensures that meals are served family style and that appropriate table manners are modeled by staff during meal time. Ensures compliance with special diets. May schedule consumer appointments. Program Services: Assists in implementation of the consumer's treatment, habilitation, and/or service plans. Leads groups as assigned. Implements behavior management procedures as assigned and/or as indicated by a contingency program or the individual's behavior plan. Contacts consumer relatives or other significant others as appropriate. Completes fire drills, severe weather drills, and nightly bed checks. Reads consumer records and ensures familiarity with each consumer's social and medical history. Starting pay: $ 10.75/ hour minimum$15.00/hour maximum. Schedule: 2nd, 3rd, and Weekend shifts available Schedules vary with program. Example of schedule: 2nd Shift: 3p-11p 3rd Shift: 11p-7a Weekend variable Location: Opelika, AL Skills & Requirements Requirements: A high school diploma or GED (or transcripts) from a state-accredited school or source; a current, valid driver's license, and the ability to demonstrate basic computer skills are all required.
