Join the Mizuho team as a Metadata Director / Taxonomist!In this role you will be responsible for strategically designing and maintaining metadata models for data assets governed by the Enterprise Data Management Office. This role involves managing relationships with various groups, balancing their needs with the company's metadata creation and collection goals. You must be a self-starter, but willing and eager to collaborate with others. You should believe in the power of active metadata and want to share this knowledge with others. You must be detail-oriented, agile, creative, and able to synthesize information from many sources. Metadata models will change over time and you should be willing to disrupt the status quo, inspiring others to do the same.Major Responsibilities:Identify strategic metadata opportunities for EDMO and for broader MUSO as it relates to the curation of metadata and data re-use across all lines of business.Drive strategic decision making and implementation related to metadata creation, acquisition, and modelingDesign, build, and maintain metadata models and schemas in support of EDMO and its related activities across the businessAudit metadata to ensure adherence to standards and identify new opportunitiesDevelop and improve workflows for metadata managementDocument workflows, metadata models, and taxonomy standardsAssist with the evaluation of new AI/machine learning or other technologies and their integration with existing systemsOversee the operation of and serve as the internal public face for MUSO Enterprise Data CatalogMaintain familiarity with new technologies and other developments in the metadata management, information technology, banking and financial services industry as they relate to metadata creation, collection, or modelingAdvocate to improve data discoverability and user experience through innovative metadata modelsExperience:7+ years of direct experience within the following areas:• metadata, including taxonomies, ontologies, metadata standards, metadata management, data extraction & transformation• Master and Reference Data Management Systems, data catalogs,Personnel management, including supervision, scheduling, training, evaluation, and developmentKnowledge, skills, and abilities required:• Strong understanding of metadata, taxonomies, and ontologies• Excellent verbal and written communications skills• Adept research and problem-solving skills• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment• Sound analytical skills (both qualitative & quantitative)• Understanding of rights and clearances• Understanding of compliance standards and practices• Able to build rapport with clients, partners and cross-functional teams• Decisive & effective problem-solving ability with a strategic mindset• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills• Master's degree in Library or Information Science preferredThe expected base salary ranges from $160k-$195k. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
