Hours: Monday through Friday. Weekends are rotated with other managers

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Metal Fabrication Manager the Industry to join our dynamic team in the sheet metal fabrication department. Good hands-on experience in sheet metal parts, working on the shop floor in the fabrication department, helping improve the part flow, and creating processes for continuous improvement to bring efficiencies in sheet metal production. Candidate will work directly under Senior Leadership. The Metal Fabrication Manager is responsible for overseeing the fabrication processes, optimizing manufacturing operations, and managing a team of fabricators and technicians to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety in production. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and improving fabrication processes, troubleshooting production issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve production goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, document, and implement manufacturing processes for the fabrication department to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Identify areas for process improvements, lean manufacturing, and waste reduction.
  • Manage, train, and mentor fabrication team members, ensuring a high level of performance and compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Schedule and coordinate shifts to meet production deadlines, optimizing workforce allocation and capacity.
  • Good knowledge in CNC machines ,CNC programming to create offline programs for fabrication machines.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate parts fabrication.
  • Work with various material types and gauges.
  • Maintain a clean and organized fabrication floor to ensure efficiency and safety
  • Assist in planning and organizing production schedules to ensure products are manufactured promptly and efficiently.
  • Support production, quality, and safety management for both day and afternoon shifts.
  • Learn and assist in managing the entire fabrication shop, including copper fabrication, sheet metal fabrication, welding stations, and the paint line for both shifts.
  • Gain knowledge of overseeing the selection and procurement of raw materials and supplies required for production.
  • Assist in supervising a team of production workers, including delegating tasks and providing training and support as needed.
  • Designing, developing, and preparing mechanical layouts and drawings using CAD/CAM software and other computer tools
  • Assist and collaborate with design and engineering teams with design specifications.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and new technologies to improve production processes and increase efficiency. Obtain new and maintain current required mechanical fabrication process qualifications to meet current and future needs.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of working in custom metal fabrication (Steel, Copper and Aluminum) using a shear, punch and bending fabrication equipment in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to read blueprints, bill of material (BOM's), schematics, diagrams, and technical orders to determine best methods and sequences of product assembly.
  • An effective leader to help level load the factory and have an ability to plan a lookout for 3-4 weeks such that company's overhead expenses for Overtime in the shop stay within budget.
  • Should be a Team Player and an Inclusive Leader.
  • Experience working with hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Have sound knowledge of CNC.
  • Should be well versed with various fabrication machines and their preventative management and should be able to lay out planned Preventative Maintenance Schedules for various machines in the shop to have minimal impact on run time and productivity of shop floor operations.
  • Requires working knowledge of and use of hand, power, and electronic equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and familiarity with manufacturing software (e.g., ERP, MES).
  • Knowledge of fabrication processes, welding, machining, and materials.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Good understanding of mechanical principles.
  • Work environment is loud (hearing protection is required).
  • Work on your feet for most of the work shift.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow within the sheet metal Fabrication
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to continuous improvement
