GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: Assist in performing straightforward operations including panel preparation, sand blasting and metal spraying. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abrade surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish, using abrasive-blasting equipment.
- Shovels and pours abrasives, like sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper.
- Masks specified areas of object to protect from abrading action.
- Loads parts on racks.
- Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle.
- Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive-laden compressed air, over surface of parts.
- Manually directs nozzle over surface of large parts or inserts arms through glove-fitted cabinet openings manipulates small parts under nozzle for specified interval.
- Examine finished parts to make sure conformance to blasting specifications.
- Operate Electric Arc Spray Equipment and achieve proper profiles on finished product.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position has no supervisory responsibilitiesKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Aptitude - Comfort handling heavy and potentially dangerous equipment, and great attention to detail. The ability to comply with instructions in written, oral, and schedule form is essential. Must read and comprehend work instructions, prints, checklists, equipment operating and maintenance instructions, and other work-related information.
- Physical fitness - Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment.Must be able to hear coworkers, see up close and far away, perceive color and depth, and have the ability to focus. Will be required to stand, walk and ascend and descend ladders, all of which requires stamina and endurance.
- Interpersonal skills - the ability to clearly, professionally, and effectively communicate with their supervisor and coworkers is necessary for success.
- Flexibility - a Blaster may be required to work extended hours and on the weekend. At times, they may be asked to cross-train, and work in other areas.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent 6 months experience in a shop environment Basic computer skills required Must pass Pulmonary Function Test Must be able to operate a hand truck Familiarity with the following machines: Sand Blasting, metal sprayer, hood & filter WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Shop Floor environment Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time Ability to perform repetitive motion (rotating wrists, keyboarding, using small/large tools) Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to tolerate constant noise (i.e.: machine motors) Ability to work safely in the presence of hazardous chemicals and hazardous conditions Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
