Are you proficient at grinding and buffing welds, corners, and bends to make a smooth surface to meet customer requirements before painting, powder coating, or polishing? Have Auto Body experience? Generally, candidates with auto body repair experience are a good fit for this position. We are looking for an experienced metal grinder/buffer/finisher to make our product look seamless.
Work hours: 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM some overtime may be requiredStarting Pay: $21 to $23 per hour. May be negotiable for years of experience and skill level What you will do: - Inspect parts for the operations performed at each workstation up to this point to ensure that they meet defined quality standards at each phase of the production process
- Use hand tools (orbital hand grinder) to grind and buff metal parts
- Determine which grinding, buffing, or polishing process is appropriate
- Will determine type and grade of proper abrasive
- Grind or buff a variety of parts usually in large lots
- Grind and finish welds, surfaces, joints and edges on parts and assemblies on a variety of materials
- Recognize defects and initiate corrective action
- Maintain specified finish and shape
- Hand or press straighten and check parts for bends, burrs, etc
- Ensure finished product complies with customer specifications
- Use proper tools to maintain equipment, check squareness of parts, etc., as required
- Maintain tools and make minor repairs to keep in serviceable condition
- Will perform routine maintenance on machines
- Will advise and direct other employees when necessary
- Must practice Company Safety Guidelines for all areas (must wear safety boots and glasses)
- May be asked to work in a variety of different departments and/or operate various machines depending upon need
- Physical requirements include the ability to walk and stand the entire shift, work in a dusty environment, arm and hand mobility, lifting 50 lbs occasionally
Must haves: - A great attitude and willingness to do what is needed to get the job done
- The aptitude and desire to learn
- Knowledge and ability to use an orbital sander to grind and buff meta
- Knowledge of proper grade of abrasive
- Able to measure or otherwise gauge a part to determine if it is in keeping with the customer's specifications

- Able to lift up to 50 pounds (or heavier with help)
