Job Title: Metal Trade Apprentice
Location: Harrison, OH
Rate of Pay: $19.14 per hourThis position is ideal for individuals seeking to transition professionally into a union role. As a Metal Trade Apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience in welding, metalworking, machining, and other trade-specific tasks, working alongside experienced union tradespeople. This opportunity provides a solid foundation for building the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in a union environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the fabrication, cutting, shaping, and assembly of metal parts and structures.
- Learn and perform basic welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
- Assist with operating various tools and machinery such as hand tools, grinders, drill presses, and cutting equipment. Assist with setting up tools and equipment for Journeyman.
- Follow detailed instructions, blueprints, and technical drawings to perform tasks accurately.
- Assist in the fabrication of metal structures and equipment as well as maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Assist with basic rigging of metal structures including the use of overhead cranes, jib cranes, and gantry cranes. Use of nylon slings, wire ropes and skates.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all tools and materials are properly stored and equipment is maintained.
- Follow safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
- Participate in training programs and gain knowledge of industry standards, trade best practices, and safety regulations.
- Support tradespeople in various tasks as required and assist with heavy lifting or moving materials.
Qualifications:Required:- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for long periods, lifting heavy materials, and working in confined spaces.
- Basic understanding of math and measurements related to metalworking.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Listen to and follow detailed instructions.
Preferred:- Previous experience in a manufacturing, construction, or metalworking environment is a plus.
- Basic familiarity with tools and equipment used in metal trades.
