Shift/Hours
Must be available to work the follow schedule.
* Monday-Friday 7:30-4:00pm.
* Potential for overtime.
* Possible on-call responsibility.
Primary Role
Performs a wide variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of meters, services, and other equipment and facilities to ensure efficient service to customers.
Key Accountabilities
* Installs, tests, maintains, repairs, and removes water meters and related equipment and turn on/off water or assist in those tasks.
* Investigates high and low consumption, detect leaks, investigates cross-connections and irregularities in customer piping, collects water samples, and performs any customer service work, or assists in those tasks.
* Installs, tests, maintains, repairs and removes gauges, recorders, cross-connections and blackflow control devices, and meter test equipment or assist in those tasks.
* Locates, inspects, adjusts and repairs service stop boxes and valve boxes or assists in those tasks.
* Leads and directs the activities of any assigned personnel.
* Ensures that work of assigned personnel is done in accordance with prescribed methods and in an efficient and safe manner, and report failure of assigned personnel to so perform.
* Ensures that assigned personnel obtains and uses all required safety equipment and apparel, and report failure of assigned personnel to do so.
* Legibly and accurately fill out customer service tickets, test cards, meter tags, time sheets, vehicle reports and other required paperwork.
* Familiar with prescribed billing and collection procedures to be able to efficiently perform work assignments.
* Reports hazards and irregularities on customer property.
* Knows the names and uses of and operates and maintains, all tools equipment and materials used in the department.
* Drives company automobiles, trucks and other mobile equipment used in the department, advise supervisor of any maintenance required for same, maintains any necessary Indiana driver license.
* Knows the location of meter vaults, meters and services to be able to efficiently perform work assignments.
* Inventory meters, parts, and supplies, and notify supervisor of depletion and requisition parts as directed, or assist in those tasks.
* Knows the location of company facilities and be familiar with the service area to be able to efficiently perform work assignment.
* Assists other employees as directed. Instructs and trains other employees as directed.
* Performs other duties as may from time to time be assigned.
Experience/Education
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Certifications/Licenses
* Valid Driver's License and ability to pass motor vehicle background check.
