The Indiana Municipal Power Agency is a not-for-profit, wholesale electric generation and transmission company located in Carmel, Indiana. At IMPA, we support 61 communities in Indiana and Ohio through providing low-cost, reliable, and environmentally responsible electricity, as well as a variety of other services to help in the overall success of each town or city.
We are seeking an experienced individual to join IMPA as a Metering Technician. This is a full-time position that will be a part of IMPA's Electrical Engineering Department.The Metering Technician reports to IMPA's Carmel headquarters with regular travel to member communities to perform metering services is required.
What You'll Bring to the Table:
- Associates of Science in Engineering, Industrial Technology, related major, or requisite experience.
- Familiarity with National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code and industry safety practices.
- Knowledge and experience in the electric industry.
- Experience with single-phase and polyphase electric metering systems, software, and communications.
- The ability to travel over 50% of the time to IMPA member communities, primarily day travel within the state of Indiana.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Installing, maintaining, programming and testing equipment we use for our metering, communication and SCADA systems.
- Maintaining and upgrading metering software and firmware as needed.
- Upgrading and replacing metering equipment, electrical load and generation data networks, and communication equipment.
- Assisting with training at IMPA workshops, safety meetings and other educational programs.
- Coordinating with other IMPA departments to maintain IMPA and IMPA member owned metering facilities.
