Job Description:

Metro State TREC Program - Seed Coalition

The Metro State TREC Academic Transitions VISTA Project will support formerly incarcerated and justice impacted students as they leverage higher education as a cornerstone in their successful transition to life beyond prison and the criminal legal system. Transformation & Reentry Through Education & Community (TREC) is a partnership of Metro State University and Minneapolis College, Minnesota State's premiere urban-serving 2- and 4-year institutions. Metro State is the only in-person bachelor's degree-granting institution working inside Minnesota prisons. In the first three years of its TREC Program, Metro State has already awarded over 35 BA degrees to incarcerated scholars, and TREC is now building a reentry program for the increasing number of students returning to their communities prior to graduation. The VISTA member will lead the development of justice-impacted student programming, build and deepen partnerships between Metro State and community partners working in the domains of reentry and workforce development for formerly-incarcerated people, and provide research support and subject-matter expertise for emerging academic success initiatives. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Seed Coalition. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. *Please also send a cover letter and resume to the supervisor. Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.* Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.
