Compensation: $52,785.40 - $64,002.30

Position Summary:

This position supports communication and public affairs initiatives within the Office of the President. This role is pivotal in shaping and executing the communication strategy to effectively promote and showcase the college president's vision, goals, and accomplishments to both internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field.

Experience:

Five (5) years related experience.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Essential Job Duties:

* Develops internal and external communications that align with the President's vision, including but not limited to: video scripts; OpEd pieces; high-level messages to students, faculty and staff; material for podcasts; social media content; speeches; and letters.

* Speechwriting and Content Creation: Craft speeches, presentations, and other written materials for the college president, ensuring clarity, coherence, and alignment with strategic messaging.

* Works internally, inter-departmentally, and with media and community to coordinate and execute public/media relation and communication plans, projects, and strategies.

* Covers events, including writing summaries, taking photos and videos for internal and external communication platforms, to include social media content.

* Maintains the President's web site. regularly reviews the President's bio and Wikipedia page.

* Works with the Marketing and Strategic Communication department to plan and create/obtain content for the President's social media channels.

* Collects data and analyzes data to gauge effectiveness in order to modify communications strategies and plans.

* Develops a variety of communication materials to promote college programs, services and initiatives, which includes creating and editing materials; developing timelines; managing projects and determining distribution methods in order to reach intended audience(s).

* Attends functions as a representative of the college to coordinate and facilitate internal and external coverage, to include: working with media; cultivating multimedia content for print, website and social media.

Knowledge:

* Marketing, public/media relations and communications principles and practices;

* Graphic design principles and software applications;

* Strong project/event management and organizational principles;

* Publications development techniques and practices;

* Proper use of the English language and grammar;

* Communications platforms

* Public speaking;

* Computer skills as well as related software applications used in the strategic communications and public/media relations field.

Skills:

* Managing, editing and coordinating the preparation and publication of a variety of marketing, promotional, and/or communication materials;

* Coordinating, prioritizing, organizing, and managing multiple simultaneous projects;

* Designing concepts for publications and website content;

* Creating, composing, and editing written materials;

* Written and verbal communication;

* Using a computer and related software applications;

* Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.

Physical:

* Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

* Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Develop engaging and informative presentations for the President. This includes designing slides, incorporating key messages, and ensuring alignment with the college's misison vision and values.
