Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a Performance Improvement Manager at our Honolulu, Hawaii location.

The Performance Improvement Manager is responsible for directing the hospital's performance improvement program and assists departments in improving the quality of their services. This position will coordinate the identification of areas of improvement, formulation of teams, methods for problem-solving intervention, and reporting of outcomes. The person in this role is responsible for ensuring that the program meets The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies' standards, as well as coordinating the risk management program's goal to reduce accidents and errors.

This position is Full Time, Exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $104,237 - $130,297 annually. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.

Performing Internal Consulting to Hospital and Medical Staff

  • Coordinating Performance Improvement Committee. Developing and implementing ongoing review and revision of the hospital-wide performance improvement policies, plans and guidelines. Providing guidance to managers, staff, and improvement teams when performance improvement questions and concerns arise. Assisting managers and medical staff in developing appropriate and meaningful performance improvement indicators and activities.

Coordinating Hospital Performance Improvement Program to Improve Quality of Services Rendered

  • Ensuring that performance improvement activities among management and staff are in compliance with requirements set forth by State, Federal and other regulatory agencies, at all times.
  • Tracking progress and results of all major performance improvement activities within the hospital on an ongoing basis. Providing direction and following up as needed. Summarizing activities for Performance Improvement Committee, Medical Executive Committee and the Board of Governors.

Coordinating Risk Management Program to Reduce the Number of Patient Care Incidents

  • Identifying , reporting, and compiling recommendations for Safety, Health and Risk Management and Patient Safety First Committees to reduce accidents and errors. Updating risk management and performance improvement plans in accordance with State, Federal and other regulatory requirements, in accordance with hospital policy. Conducting appropriate follow-up with patient incidents, ensuring unsafe conditions are corrected.

Coordinating Patient Satisfaction Survey Program to Improve Quality of Services Rendered

  • Facilitating patient satisfaction survey program among staff and management. Reporting identified issues through survey results and facilitating action.

Providing Performance Improvement Training

  • Developing and coordinating performance improvement orientation to new employees and new medical staff on an ongoing basis. Developing and presenting programs for managers and/or staff based on identified needs or changing standards on an ongoing basis. Developing and providing training and mentoring for team facilitators and leaders. Providing specialized education to medical staff, management and board members on an annual basis through mandatory education modules or other media.

Experience:

  • 3 years of experience in health care quality assurance coordination and program development, including policy and reporting writing, staff in-services and facilitating meetings perferred.
  • Proficiency in mathematics, including statistical calculations desired.
  • Concentration to analyze data, solve problems, recommend actions and meet strict deadlines desired.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in any field - or Associate's Degree in Nursing - perferred.
  • Medical coursework desired
  • CPHQ certification or Hawaii RN or other performance improvement certification desirable.
