Location: The successful candidate will be expected to work in a hybrid status of reporting to any Consumers Energy Service Center every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday with home office flexibility on Wednesday and Friday. We are looking for: Manager Product Management (Renewables) The Manager Product Management is responsible for a portfolio of clean energy products or pilots that achieves aggressive corporate clean energy goals through implementation contractors and internal partners. The Manager leads a team of product managers responsible for the development of product strategies for each product as part of a cohesive category strategy. More broadly the Manager is accountable for team and overall portfolio performance to meet customer experience and enterprise objectives.

  • Continuous improvement and problem solving ability with experience utilizing Lean methods and tools
  • Market research capabilities; able to interpret and apply new insights and research to plans
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manager overseeing two direct reports who are Senior Product Managers.
  • Responsible for leading the large business customer segment of our Renewable Energy Program & Renewable Energy Credit Program as well as our gas decarbonization solutions, Renewable Natural Gas and Forestry Carbon Offsets and supporting other products as needed and developing new products to support the expansion of clean energy product portfolio.
  • Strong commercial skill set, ability to negotiate, assess and mitigate risks on the supply and demand side
  • Liaison that works cross functionally to understand all aspects of the business from marketing, customer experience, sales, clean energy development, economic development
  • Responsible for ensuring overall profitability of products to deliver on enrollment glidepath expectations
  • Public advocacy for the business in industry forums, government meetings at the local, state, federal level
  • Strong financial modeling, commercial skill set and engineering background a plus
  • Highly driven, anticipates uncommunicated needs and executes

  • Experience with product, program, or project management
  • Experience with complex financial modeling
  • Experience in renewable energy, battery storage, and/or renewable fuels
  • Experience in consulting or strategy development

    • Ensure Voluntary Green Pricing (VGP) programs are included in Long Term Financial Planning budgets

  • Regulatory Activities
    • Annual reports - one year report on program activity (enrollments, revenue, credits paid, MWh subscribed, new research, budgets, etc.)
    • Biennial reports - every 2-years to make significant changes to program designs and introduce new offerings.
    • Ex Parte filings - Off-cycle filings to propose program enhancements or new offerings
  • Develop and manage work at a sector level aligning with the Product Lifecycle Management Process, including development of portfolio strategy in alignment with overall category and sector strategy. Ensure portfolio plans are aligned with customer experience and enterprise objectives.
  • Lead development of product objectives (i.e. savings/energy targets, leading indicators, etc.) for overall portfolio and manage the execution of the category and/or sector strategy through aligned plans to deliver product results and achieve portfolio goals.
  • Involvement in political and regulatory environment, including development and tracking for internal and stakeholder communication plans; oversee regulatory case developments for assigned product categories and sectors, ensure timely completion of regulatory requirements and track outcomes.
  • Lead team performance and engagement. Coach and lead day to day work of the team, providing ongoing feedback to employees on their performance. Work with employees to create development plans. Keep team apprised of corporate-level and CX-level strategic priorities. Ensure standard work is followed. Synthesize information for team and provide clear direction on priorities.
  • Ensure and review customer and market research conducted for products within portfolio and assist product managers with the operationalization of all research activities to drive improved performance for assigned products.
  • Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary.
