Job Responsibilities

This position is located at the Myrtle Beach Police Department - 1101 N. Oak Street, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. The position will be embedded in the Myrtle Beach Police Department. Employee will need to work effectively and efficiently with a flexible work schedule.
Candidate must be a licensed therapist in the state of South Carolina through LLR. Can be LMSW.
Potential employee must have one year of clinical work experience prior to hiring. This can include internship, practicum or previous work experience with clients. Master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or related field is required for the position.
This position is self-directed and motivated, functioning independently and exercising good clinical judgement.
Under limited supervision provides community based clinical assessments, therapeutic services and referral resources to children, adolescents and families experiencing mental health issues who have interacted with local law enforcement. You will collaborate with law enforcement, fire and rescue department and other community agencies to provide information on available resources to assist persons in need.
Position provides mental health screenings, assessments and crisis intervention to children, adolescents and adults identified by local law enforcement as having mental health concerns. Arranges for appropriate referrals and dispositions for cases requiring a different level of care.
Serve as a liaison with personnel of other agencies to facilitate treatment and coordinate referrals of identified community members.
Position provides other treatment related services and functions within the community policing model that includes riding along with officers in the community, staffing calls to determine next steps, deescalating community members as appropriate, and offering collaborative follow-up practices.
Maintains documentation of charts and other medical records in accordance with State, Federal, SCDMH, WCMH, Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and CARF Standards.
Knowledge of methods, principles and practices of clinical and crisis counseling services.
Ability to work collaboratively with law enforcement officials.
Ability to engage key stakeholders and community partners.
Capability to exercise discretion in interpreting and applying establish objectives in crisis situations.
Must be skilled in effective planning, coordination and managing complete assessment and treatment interventions in the community.
Strong communication skills are a must as you must.
Sitting, standing, bending, lifting up to 25 pounds and ability to be in a car for prolonged periods of time are required, as well as some travel.
Will perform other related duties as assigned by the Program Supervisor and WCMH Executive Director.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
State Minimum Requirements - Master's degree in guidance, counseling, social sciences or related field. Must have one year of clinical experience.
