MI Coalition Against Homelessness - TrueNorth/Fremont(FT)

TrueNorth is seeking one Full-time AmeriCorps Member to serve as a Housing Specialists from January 20th, 2025 through January 16th, 2026. TrueNorth has been providing local housing assistance since 1972, and been providing MSHDA homeless services since 1994. TrueNorth's housing leadership has experience in securing and managing HUD, MSHDA, MDHHS, Salvation Army, and local United Way and Community Foundation funding to support homeless and housing crisis services in the counties we serve. TrueNorth is experienced in providing rural homelessness services, and with the recent appointment as the Muskegon County HARA will gain urban experience as well. TrueNorth currently manages: MSHDA ESG Prevention & Rapid Rehousing, MDHHS Rapid Rehousing, HUD Permanent Supportive Housing, MSHDA Family Supportive Services, Salvation Army Emergency Shelter Program along with local United Way and Fremont Area Community Foundation grants. In addition, TrueNorth was able to step up and manage COVID funding and service delivery during the pandemic. TrueNorth also houses the Center for Nonprofit Housing which provides HUD certified housing counseling services Service benefits include a $21,000 living stipend (pre-tax, distributed bi-weekly) and a $7,395 Segal Education Award. Member Duties : Assist with intakes to assess the housing needs of that client Address housing barriers for the client Create/update lists of available housing for the clients to choose from Connect clients with necessary funds to pay for security deposits, rental fees, or utility payments Maintain/develop relationships with local landlords Receive training for/conduct Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and other housing inspections Assist with independent living skills support related to addressing income and housing stabilization needs Gather and disperse food and clothing donations to clients Facilitate delivery of needed household items to clients who receive housing Generate information materials for clients, such as newsletters/pamphlets/etc. Provide follow-up support services as needed
