The person in this position will be responsible for preparing media and other supplies for microbiology laboratory sections and for maintaining the instructional lab space. The Microbiology Laboratory Assistant works closely with the Microbiology Faculty Lab Coordination Supervisor to ensure that all required materials are prepared in advance and to facilitate work by multiple different laboratory instructors in Microbiology.
Minimum Qualifications: - B.A. or B.S. in biology or related science.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as under supervision.
- Or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Preferred Qualifications: - Prior experience in microbiology or laboratory environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, faculty, and students.
- Ability to document and communicate work process and completion in a timely manner.

Physical Demands This position requires the employee to be able to lift up to 20 pounds on a frequent basis. In addition, the employee must be able to remove laboratory supplies from high shelves (using a step stool) and from storage on the ground, to push and pull a cart loaded with supplies, and to walk and stand for several hours.
