These are just some of the reasons we were just named a Top Firm to Work for by Zweig!WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:The Civil Technician will support the Subsurface Utility Engineering team by providing high-quality CAD drawings using MicroStation software. The role focuses on the production of utility mapping and design drawings, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of project deliverables under the supervision of an Engineer and/or Discipline Lead. They will also prepare quantity takeoffs of design elements and will be responsible for conducting property and existing utility research on projects with oversight. Once selected to join our team, you will:
  • Perform complex computer-aided design assignments through MicroStation functions and drafting techniques, under limited supervision
  • Utilize MicroStation to create, modify, and update utility drawings, including 2D plans, profiles, and as-builts ensuring that all drawings meet company and client standards., with limited direction
  • Interpret field data from SUE investigations and incorporate it into CAD models including processing survey data and geophysical results to accurately represent underground utilities.
  • Assist in the production of utility plans for transportation, infrastructure, and construction projects.
  • Prepare drawings for various stages, including preliminary and final design.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs of design elements
  • Work closely with SUE field crews, engineers, and project managers to translate field data and project needs into clear, accurate drawings. Collaborate with other CAD technicians to ensure consistency and quality across projects.
  • Organize and maintain project CAD files, ensuring proper version control and documentation.
  • Completes some manipulation of design tools in CAD software for creating and labeling construction documents
  • Conduct property and existing utility research as needed on specific projects with supervision
  • Other duties as assigned
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:KNOWLEDGE:
  • Solid understanding of drafting concepts and CAD fundamentals
  • Demonstrated knowledge of civil design, permitting documents, and construction concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to produce construction drawings and exhibits with limited supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to manipulate design tools in CAD software, including Civil3D
  • Proficiency in MicroStation required
  • Working knowledge of and proficiency with MS Office and Bluebeam

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 2 years of CAD drafting experience, with a focus on MicroStation
  • Prior experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) or civil design preferred
EDUCATION:
  • Associate's Degree or Technical School Graduate in Computer Aided Drafting & Design preferred
