Job Duties:
- Counsel clients on effective IP strategy options.
- Perform patent procurement activities, including:
- Preparation and prosecution of complex patent applications.
- Managing a global patent portfolio across multiple jurisdictions by instructing foreign patent counsel in the prosecution of foreign counterpart applications.
- Consulting with inventors, technical experts, and patent portfolio managers.
- Conduct IP-related due diligence for opinions, including patentability, freedom to operate, and infringement and invalidity analyses.
- Engage in patent counseling, procurement, and opinion development.
- Collaborate on licensing and enforcement activities.
Requirements:
- Practical experience and in-depth knowledge of Biology or Biotechnology.
- Good standing in the bar(s) where licensed to practice law.
- Active USPTO Registration.
- Superior technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Ph.D. or MS in a biology discipline (e.g., molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, or biotechnology).
Certifications:
- Admission to practice law in good standing.
- Active USPTO Registration.
