Job Duties:

  • Counsel clients on effective IP strategy options.
  • Perform patent procurement activities, including:
  • Preparation and prosecution of complex patent applications.
  • Managing a global patent portfolio across multiple jurisdictions by instructing foreign patent counsel in the prosecution of foreign counterpart applications.
  • Consulting with inventors, technical experts, and patent portfolio managers.
  • Conduct IP-related due diligence for opinions, including patentability, freedom to operate, and infringement and invalidity analyses.
  • Engage in patent counseling, procurement, and opinion development.
  • Collaborate on licensing and enforcement activities.

Requirements:

  • Practical experience and in-depth knowledge of Biology or Biotechnology.
  • Good standing in the bar(s) where licensed to practice law.
  • Active USPTO Registration.
  • Superior technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Ph.D. or MS in a biology discipline (e.g., molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, or biotechnology).

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in good standing.
  • Active USPTO Registration.
