This role involves developing and implementing engaging science lessons, fostering scientific inquiry and exploration, and creating a supportive and dynamic learning environment that encourages students' curiosity and understanding of scientific concepts. Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Planning and Delivery: - Develop and implement a science curriculum that aligns with state and national standards.
- Provide instruction in various scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods, such as hands-on experiments, demonstrations, multimedia resources, and inquiry-based learning, to engage students and enhance their understanding of scientific concepts.
Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring: - Assess and evaluate student performance through quizzes, tests, laboratory reports, projects, and class participation.
- Monitor and document student progress, providing timely feedback and support to address academic needs and promote growth.
- Adjust instructional strategies and interventions based on assessment data and individual student needs.
Curriculum Development and Enhancement: - Develop and update instructional materials, lesson plans, and resources to enhance the science curriculum.
- Incorporate technology and innovative teaching practices into the curriculum to provide relevant and engaging learning experiences.
- Design and implement enrichment activities and projects to extend learning opportunities for advanced students.
Laboratory and Classroom Management: - Create and maintain a safe and organized science classroom and laboratory environment.
- Manage and oversee the use of scientific equipment, materials, and supplies, ensuring they are used effectively and safely.
- Implement and enforce safety procedures and protocols for laboratory activities and experiments.

- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences, school meetings, and other events to build strong relationships with families.
Professional Development and Growth: - Stay current with advancements in science education, instructional strategies, and educational technology through professional development.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Education, or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification in Science or secondary education.
- Previous experience teaching middle school science preferred.
- Strong knowledge of scientific concepts, instructional strategies, and best practices in education.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and scientific software.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, sit, and move around for extended periods.
- Capacity to lift and carry up to 25 pounds of educational materials and laboratory equipment.
- Ability to perform tasks involving manual labor, such as setting up laboratory experiments and managing classroom supplies.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a classroom and laboratory setting.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for school functions, science fairs, and professional development.
