What is an Middleware Integration Developer?

This position works within the IT Business Application Development which supports the Company's critical business applications such as ERP, Customer Information, Outage Management, Digital Customer Engagement solutions, field operations systems and more. The Middleware Integration Developer will be responsible for partnering with internal and external SAP & Oracle SOA counterparts to design, configure, develop, test, document, and support integrations between enterprise technology solutions and other third-party systems while implementing best-practices and optimizing existing integrations. We are currently using Oracle SOA 12c for our Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Framework and SAP Process Integration/Process Orchestration (PI/PO) and Cloud Platform Integration (CPI).

What does a Middleware Integration Developer do?

  • Performs system analysis, design, configuration, and production support activities using Oracle's SOA system

  • Supports all phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including analysis, design, development, testing and implementation along with the generation of required documentation throughout each phase of the project

  • Collaborates with business users, project team members and other technical staff to develop, implement and execute upon the requirements of project scope or business requests through complex Oracle SOA programming, testing, documentation and debugging functions related to the implementation of middleware integrations

  • Performs and assists with integration development using our SOA Enterprise Suite tools including designing, configuring, developing, and testing business process integrations

  • Works collaboratively with internal and external Oracle SOA counterparts for periodic review of integration enterprise roadmap for prioritization

  • Regularly communicates with business users and functional teams to understand the requirements from provided functional designs or business requirements/use cases and transforms them into technical designs

  • Builds professional relationships with management, business representatives, and team members to ensure delivery of proposed solutions, support for development of business possibilities and professional development

  • Participates in troubleshooting incidents reported to IT and assists in identifying root cause of issues

  • Promotes re-use, mobility, flexibility, scalability, and reliability; best-practice implementation throughout architecture and solution

  • Actively participates in industry communities to continuously expand upon knowledge and improve the standards and awareness of the company's SAP practices

  • Responds to requests to work outside of normal work hours at times and completes on-call rotation

  • Provides support during storm restoration efforts

What does it take to be a Middleware Integration Developer?

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, STEM or related field of study. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, an associate's degree with 3 years of related professional experience in areas such as Oracle SOA development or administration or a closely related field. or a high school diploma or equivalency degree and 5 years of related experience will be considered.

  • Experience with Middleware products such as Oracle SOA Suite, TIBCO, IBM Message Broker, Informatica, etc.

  • Experience integrating systems using web service standards such as REST, XML, WSDL, SOAP, etc.

  • Experience with open-source technology's such as python, shell scripting or Java

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Proven ability to scope/size projects and adapt to a variety of assignments

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organizational technology, processes, and priorities

  • Must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to learn through hands on experience, peer mentoring, and formal training

  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision and work well under pressure to deliver a quality product

  • Demonstrated strong problem solving, analytical skills, and strategic thinking ability; proven ability to discern critical from minor problems

  • Must be willing to respond to requests to work outside of normal work hours

  • Valid driver's license

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or STEM field

  • Strong understanding of Service Oriented Architecture concepts

  • Experience with Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle WebLogic Suite, Oracle MFT, Oracle OSB, Oracle BPEL, Oracle BAM, and Oracle ESS

  • Experience working with XML, XSLT, XQuery, Java, JSON, JCA Adapters, SQL

  • Experience with relational database systems (e.g. MS SQL Server, Oracle)

  • Experience working on CICD tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Git lab

  • Cloud experience in Oracle OCI, OIC and migrating on-premise to cloud or vice versa

  • Experience with system integration strategies and implementation of best practices

This position has a career path which allows for advancement opportunities within a job series. The title and level are commensurate with experience. Pay range: $69,800 - $163,800
