Summary About the Position: Serves as a Military Plans Specialist for the G5 Plans Directorate, Deputy Chief of Staff, G5 (Plans). This position will be filled on a permanent basis. Responsibilities Develops written plans and routinely provides oral presentations and update briefs to senior personnel on the status of ongoing planning activities. Leads and facilitates Operational Planning Teams during execution of all planning activities while using established Army planning methodologies. Develops courses of action and/or recommendations for mobilization-related issues. Participates in Army wide mobilization and deployment activities with representatives of the Army's mobilization enterprise. Briefs higher echelon and distinguished visitors on planning, mobilization, and programming issues. Presents and defends the organizations planning and resource issues at major planning and programming conferences. Specialized Experience required for GS-12: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, such as: 1. applying regulations and policies on military mobilization and/or deployment, 2. analyzing military mobilization and/or deployment plans for course of action, and 3. providing recommendations for improvement on military mobilization and/or deployment issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Organizational Awareness Planning and Evaluating Reading Comprehension Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
