The Millwright Foreman Engineer is responsible for supervising a team of millwrights and engineers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and machinery. This role requires a strong technical background, leadership skills, and the ability to ensure that all work is performed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards and regulations. The Millwright Foreman Engineer will oversee riggers, millwrights, pipefitters, welders, and skilled laborers, our work includes machinery moving, plant maintenance, piping disconnects and reconnects, and installation of various material handling systems. An ideal candidate should possess a solid background in the field, with strong leadership skills, and be able to direct the work of others and make quick decisions. Responsibilities:
- Assigns daily crew tasks.
- Recognizes, addresses, and resolves issues as they arise on the job site.
- Reviews and tracks weekly job cost and production and communicates this information to identified supervisors.
- Identifies needs and deficiencies in the look ahead plan/schedule and communicates with the identified supervisors.
- Ensures crew compliance with safety requirements, project policies and procedures.
- Works with the crew to overcome work challenges with effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Identifies, verifies, and reports any scheduling conflicts with other crews and contractors to the appropriate personnel.
- Communicate and coordinate with other trades to avoid and resolve job site conflicts.
- Leads crew in productive manner.
- Effectively communicates orally and in writing with good comprehension.
- Possesses team-building skills.
- Assesses crew skills to be able to coach and teach.
- Manage and direct the construction, operations, or maintenance activities at project side.
- Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.
- Provide technical advice to industrial or managerial personnel regarding design, construction, program modifications, or structural repairs.
Installation and Maintenance:
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, providing solutions to minimize downtime.
Project Management:
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure project requirements and deadlines are met.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, including maintenance logs and reports.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct safety audits and enforce safety protocols to minimize hazards and risks.
- Stay current with industry standards and regulations, implementing changes as needed.
Technical Expertise:
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members.
Communication:
- Maintain clear and effective communication with team members, management, and other departments.
Requirements : Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Experience: Proven experience as a millwright, mechanic, or engineer, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or foreman role. Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Have a basic knowledge of gas and steam turbine-generators and components.
- Have a good understanding of safety and environmental regulations.
- Be familiar with the use of small hand tools and have own set of hand tools up to and including 1 1D4 .
- Be capable of using and reading precision tools, such as inside and outside micrometers, dial calipers, depth micrometers, dial indicators, and periphery tape measures.
- Be capable of taking basic coupling alignment readings.
- Be familiar with the use of pneumatics, hydraulics and other power tooling.
- Ability to read mechanical prints and clearance diagrams.
- Crane experience
General knowledge of grain handling systems required (this is a must, bidding, quoting, planning grain handling systems for farmers and elevators)
- Ability to sketch working plans, drawings, etc for others to fabricate
- Able to obtain Class A CDL
