Position type: Hourly Position Overview: Train to perform all requirements of the appropriate Millwright Job Classification job under the close direction and/or instruction of personnel that are more experienced or a supervisor. Principle Duties:

  • Install, replace, or repair piping by performing any cutting, bending, fitting, soldering, threading, welding, or bolting necessary on various liquid or gaseous piping systems. Be able to perform the tests required to assure work performed is leak-free. Safely attach, support, and hang installed piping. Install and/or move machines and equipment using proper rigging procedures, utilizing rolling stock, chains, hoists, cranes, slings, ropes, dollies, jacks, air bags, and other specialized rigging equipment. Install, repair, or replace structural metal fabrications utilizing various bolting and/or welding procedures, metal compositions, and filler materials as well utilize various sheet metal fabrication procedures. Be able to perform both bench welds as well as in-the-field positional welding.
  • Following all safety procedures such as LOTO, confined space, ladder safety, fall protection, hot work permits, hydraulic safety, lift truck and aerial lift operation. Following all applicable installation codes such as NFPA, NEC, ASME, ANSI, OSHA, etc.
  • Pipe installation utilizing various pipefitting methods such as threaded, lined, grooved, welded, compression and chemical welding. In addition, be able to identify and properly install correct valving such as ball, butterfly, check, gate, pinch and pressure relief valves. All welding techniques including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, Oxy-acetylene, as well as arc-welding, flux core, and plasma torching.
  • Identifying and joining various structural steel shapes and sizes such as sheet, plate, angles, channels, and I-beams. Identify and utilize rigging equipment such as lifting lugs/eyes, hooks, slings, ropes, chain, hoists, jacks, dollies, rollers, air bags and cranes. Become trained in the operation of powered mobile equipment to facilitate movement, placement, and/or repair of equipment at walk speed or less. This includes lift trucks, scissor lifts, aerial lifts and boom lifts.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned area(s), machines, tools and equipment. Always observe company policies and procedures. Perform each phase of the operation in full compliance with all company, state, and/or federal safety and environmental regulations
Preferred Education/Experience:
  • A graduate with an A.A.S degree or Certificate from an accredited vocational trade school or equivalent military program and successfully pass job-related skill assessment tests.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience as an industrial millwright could qualify for entrance into the accelerated training program.
  • Candidates without an A.A.S degree, certificate or applicable industrial experience must be enrolled in the extended training program.
  • Pass visual, hearing, and physical tests and successfully complete Powered Industrial Truck Operator Training course per standard policy.
  • Pass color vision requirements test.
