Atlanta GLOW is a faith-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves low-income young women and/or young women of color, ages 14-25, by providing mentoring, leadership development, workforce readiness, wellness and life skills training to ignite each young woman's potential and equip her with the tools to take action and thrive in her home, school, workplace and community.POSITION SUMMARYThe Ministry Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating the disciple-making activities of Atlanta GLOW. This is a part-time, contractual position. The standard working hours for this position are flexible with the expectation that regular office hours will be kept. This position allows for telecommuting, with some in person and/or Saturday work required for facilitating community outreach, family engagement, program sessions, and training events at our Cumberland area office/classroom location and in our target communities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate weekly virtual Bible studies and accurately teach God's Word in a compelling and age-appropriate manner, including choosing curriculum, evaluating youth needs and responses, and following up as necessary.
- Personally witness to youth and represent Atlanta GLOW with an inclusive, receptive, and Christ-like presence in the community.
- Create monthly Bible reading plans tailored to support the spiritual growth of the youth.
- Provide confidential prayer support to youth and families through regular phone outreach.
- Develop and nurture relationships with local churches to recruit eligible youth into Atlanta GLOW programming.
- Maintain a comprehensive calendar of ministry outreach activities, including community events, workshops, public appearances, and other engagement opportunities.
- Keep the supervisor informed of all significant events or conditions that may impact participants, volunteers, staff well-being, team safety, and overall office operations.
- Build strong 1-on-1 relationships with youth, families, volunteers, staff, and community agents to foster collaborative partnerships aimed at meeting the needs of the youth.
- Promote a non-judgmental, safe, and supportive environment where all program participants are assured they will be heard and valued.
- Collect, organize, and enter program participant data to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
- Submit activity logs and all required project management documents promptly to ensure effective tracking of ministry progress.
- Collaborate with project team members to brainstorm new ideas, directions, and tools to enhance the ministry's impact.
- Participate in professional development activities to continuously improve content knowledge and skills relevant to youth ministry.
- Perform other programming tasks as required to support the organization's mission and goals.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
- Born again believer with a maturing relationship with Christ.
- Undergraduate degree from a Bible college or Christian liberal arts college with a degree in Theology, Christian Education, Youth Ministry, or Young Adult Ministry. A general knowledge of the Bible is essential.
- A strong desire or a calling , to serve God in the position.
- Spiritually, mentally and emotionally mature.
- Possess strong leadership characteristics and use skills to train, equip and inspire.
- Ability to take direction and receive feedback.
- Three or more years of experience in leading and teaching youth ministry programs.
- Demonstrated genuine love and solid rapport with young people.
- Sensitive to needs and pressures of teens and young adults, with knowledge of possible
- Ability to deliver creative and interactive multimedia content (text, image and video).
- Relationally strong and recognizes the importance of people over programs.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- High attention to detail and organization in planning.
- Excellent technology, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Experience in social media applications.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience working in the area of Christian community development, preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in developing relationships with youth participants and parents.
- Ability to work with and engage individuals of diverse backgrounds.
- Exceptional interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to take a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
