Job Code: 6083 Classification Title: Junior Cashier/Food Aide POSITION Full-time, 40 hours per week, 6-month temporary position starting at $21.85 per hour working at the the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. This position is represented by the Teamsters Local 320 bargaining unit. RESPONSIBILITIES The Junior Cashier at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a crucial member of the Arboretum Dining team for ensuring the smooth operation of all dining spaces and retail locations. This position plays a meaningful role in performing food production tasks, cleaning, and providing an exceptional dining experience for all Arboretum, staff, visitors, and friends The Junior Cashier assists in general food production and dispensing service, including cashiering, and dishwashing. This is a position that must be capable of operating a wide variety of equipment that produces both hot and cold food, meeting production standards and time lines. This position will serve customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service. Additionally, they follow proper food handling, sanitation, and following food storage procedures. This position may be designated as essential. This position is represented by the Teamsters Bargaining Unit. Duties/Responsibilities: The following examples do not include all possible tasks and responsibilities, nor limit the assignment of additional related tasks including tasks typically performed by a lower classification. - Works as a barista, making coffee and specialty coffee drinks - Operates POS system and complies with all cash handling policies - Maintains service areas and stocks products when assigned - Maintains product presentation throughout the day - Completes food production records - Assembles and serves products as assigned - Maintains cleanliness of service and dining area including emptying trash, recycling and composting. Completes daily, weekly and monthly cleaning as assigned - Operates blenders, coffee brewers, Turbo Chef oven and other small service equipment - Assists in training and assigning tasks to student and temporary/casual hourly employees. - Puts away food and supplies - Performs other duties as assigned The employer retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position All employees at any given time may be expected to handle food and beverage including but not limited to the following: meat, beef, pork, chicken, fish, dairy products, nuts, vegetables, etc. Any of the assigned duties may take place at various dining locations across the Arboretum campus (i.e. Farm at the Arb, Rootstock , etc.). Qualifications Required Qualifications (must be mentioned on application/resume): Ability to meet the physical requirements of the assignment. Ability to interact in a public setting in a respectful and professional manner Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
