About the Team:Our Trust & Safety team's commitment is to keep our online community safe. We have invested heavily in human and machine-based moderation to remove harmful content quickly and often before it reaches our general community. As a product manager on our Trust & Safety team, you will work with data science, policy, algo, engineering, operations, and various relevant internal teams across the globe to form strategies and build features that ensure users are safe on our platform. You will develop streamlined and scalable processes to prevent abuse on a wide range of features while ensuring trust and protecting TikTok's brand reputation. You will need to wear a variety of hats as you work with these different teams in order to ensure project success.

This will be a full-time position based in our Mountain View, Los Angeles, New York offices.

In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Product Managers to drive the strategy, roadmap and execution for key Minor Safety priorities.
  • Build effective and scalable features and tools for minors to provide them with safe and enriching experiences.
  • Implement Age Assurance US safety strategies, risk and compliance assessments to create, approve, implement product requirements and provide end-to-end support for the launch of innovative safety products or processes.
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, or inconsistencies across the safety ecosystem and, in response, develop and test strategies and solutions to support effective content moderation, ensure our products, processes and workflows are optimized for efficiency.
  • Work in tandem with our Data Science team to ensure that the metrics we track are actionable and lead to cogent and achievable strategy.
  • Have a deep understanding of machine learning model development and measurement to partner with our Algo team to develop proactive detection and algorithms in flagging and detecting violative content.
  • Work closely with minor safety and wellness experts, as well as cross-functional partners, to ensure vertical alignment with latest industry research and insights.
  • Act as a liaison between Trust & Safety (compliance, legal, policy, security) and other product teams to guide product strategy and implementation.
  • Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and constantly changing environment.
  • Work with global teams across multiple regions, time zones, languages; open to domestic and international travel.
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree.
  • 5+ years of work experience in product management in consumer facing mobile or web internet companies, ideally in Trust & Safety or Risk Management roles.
  • 3+ years of Trust & Safety experience.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and work cross-functionally in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Data-driven, capable of in-depth data interpretation and utilizing data for prioritization and/or decision making.
  • Ability to design product solutions based on evidence; proven track record of delivering value-adding products, and/or organizational or process changes that benefit the business.
  • Strong project management and communication skills, able to influence and unite cross-functional teams.
  • Passionate about creating safe and enriching experiences for minors; Basic knowledge of online digital safety.
  • Deep understanding of abuse trends specific to US cultural norms and sensitivities.
  • Attention to detail, highly self-driven and results-oriented.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in working with international partners across different time zones and cultures.
  • Experience in Minor Safety, Trust & Safety; Basic knowledge of safety by design principles.
  • Understanding of the landscape and new policy developments in tech industry and online safety.
  • Prior experience managing products with safety-related success metrics highly desirable.
  • Prior experience managing products related to human and/or machine-based moderation to remove harmful content highly desirable.
  • Your ability to work in a high tempo environment, adapt, respond to day-to-day challenges of the role.
  • Your resilience and commitment to self-care to manage the emotional demands of the role.

    Job Information:

    【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $210000 - $375000 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
