MBDA Inc. is looking for a Missile Airframe Engineer, Associate Principal to join our team in Huntsville, AL. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIESProvide missile airframe engineering leadership. Serve as technical expert for missile and projectile airframe designs. Work with Aerodynamicists, Guidance and Control Designers, Mechanical Engineers and Structural Analysts to lead an all-inclusive SE approach to airframe design. Employ knowledge and experience to develop detailed airframe designs including airframe requirements definition, airframe trades studies/optimization, airframe integration and test and tracking of weight, CG and MOI budgets. Responsible for all aspects of interfaces to host platforms or howitzers. Supports proposals, develop and define scope of work and engineering concepts for advanced projects. Responsible to perform technical coordination, direction, review and status of airframe design work packages on these advanced projects. Conduct/coordinate analysis of airframe structural performance and platform compatibility to identify and allocate mission, system, and subsystem requirements. Provide a comprehensive indentured framework of requirements for use as performance, design, interface, support, production, cost, and test criteria. Perform analysis to assess compliance of each throughout the system development cycle. Interface with Systems Engineers, Structural Analysts, Mechanical Engineers, Aerodynamicists and Guidance and Control Engineers to support full system design and development. Conduct airframe design reviews to ensure that the airframe definition provides a balanced design and reflects requirements for all elements. Perform trade studies for the development and optimization of airframe concepts and architectures in support of ongoing programs and in development of new business marketing and proposal activities. Provide technical coordination and direction for Engineering as outlined by management. Ensure program and technical milestones are met and coordinates the analysis and assessment of compliance with customer, program, and system requirements throughout the product development cycle.EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and experience in methodologies and processes for guided missile and guided projectile airframe requirements development verification to include modeling, analysis, and testing.
- Computer programming in a high order language. Proven capabilities with design/analysis tools associated with airframe design.
- Experience in system architecture development, requirements analysis, flow down, generation of specifications, design verification and procurement.
- Effective technical writing, presentation and communication skills.
- Requires Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 12 years' experience, Master's degree desired.
- Must have active US DoD Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain US DoD Secret Clearance
