Job Description BAE Systems is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated mid senior level engineer to join our NATO SeaSparrow Project Office (NSPO) team in Arlington, VA. The selected candidate will provide engineering, engineering management and programmatic support to the Missile Systems Assurance (MSA) Manager for the ESSM Block 1, ESSM Block 2 and future missile variants, its components and associated equipment, at the N-40 Division. Specific support elements involve collaborating with Navy Field Activities, the Design Agent and US – International stakeholders in developing Statements of Work, maintaining project schedules and managing action items. Moreover, he/she will be expected to supervise contractor staff and perform associated administrative functions for BAE Systems. Key Responsibilities: NSPO-Specific duties include: • Support the MSA manager maintain quality and reliability for the ESSM Block 1, Block 2 and future missile baselines. • Provide engineering, acquisition, systems integration, production engineering and programmatic support to the MSA manager. • Perform as the acting MSA Manager during periods of turnover. Ensure seamless transition and advise the new MSA Manager. • Assist and represent, as necessary, the MSA Manager in various programmatic meetings (NIISEN, NSPAWG, FAM) • Maintain an overview of ESSM in-service and production activities and actions, to include the oversight of major programmatic and engineering action items from all reviews and working group sessions designated by N40. • Respond to assigned actions and participate in action item status review meetings. • Generate associated acquisition documentation, including preparation of SOWs, contract data deliverable recommendations, and support the review/evaluation/comment of production and in-service related sole source proposals. Effectively manage taskings across all activities and the Design Agent (DA). • Provide engineering support to the NSPO in resolving technical action items/issues/problems. • Develop task statements and acquisition statements of work to outline engineering efforts defined in contractor SOWs and Navy field activities' SEATASKs. • Retrieve, search and distribution information from local resources to include the NAVSEA Intranet, Internet, the DA Product Data Management (PDM) system, SIPRNET, NPAN, and classified mail. • Support meetings and conferences, including but not limited to XFRACAS, Reliability, Quality and Environmental Working Group. Support formal contract reviews, as well as working level integration/production/in-service meetings, associated with the MSA program. BAE-Specific Duties Include: • Perform supervisory duties as the section lead for staff within the NSPO N-40 and N-50 Technical Divisions. Direct report administrative duties include onboarding and mentoring, approving time tickets and travel/expense reports, conducting performance reviews, and generally validating adherence to BAE Systems policies.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills Required Education, Experience, & Skills - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology field (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or a related field), or in Mathematics.
- Demonstrated 3-5 years engineering experience, within a defense or aerospace environment preferably at NSPO.
- Active Secret U.S. government security clearance.
- Detailed understanding of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and Quality disciplines, in particular, reliability, maintainability, quality, safety, configuration management and data management.
- Working knowledge of quality systems and their implementation in complex industrial activities.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite software products.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to mentor junior staff members.
- Ability to work effectively in an international team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritizing effectively.
- Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS to support MSA-related meetings
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Desirable Qualifications: - Demonstrated 5-7 years engineering experience, within a defense or aerospace environment preferably at NSPO.
- Demonstrated experience with supervisory practices and techniques, plus the demonstrated ability to apply them effectively to direct reports.
- Prior supervisory experience within a defense contracting company.
Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $92290 - $156860 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
