Summary About the Position: The Military Entrance Processing Station plays a vital role in maintaining the nation's military might by ensuring that each new member of the Armed Forces: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force & Coast Guard; meets the high mental, moral & medical standards required by the DoD & the military services. Every MEPS represents state of the art in testing, examining & processing applicants for enlistment into the Armed Forces. This position will be filled on a permanent basis. Responsibilities You will serve as a Mission Support Specialist at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) providing administrative support to the Battalion Commander and staff. Additionally, you will: Serve as regional manager of the Battalion Military Awards and Decorations Program and Civilian Honorary Awards Program. Provide management oversight, oversee information systems, telecommunications, budget analysis and finance procurement. Manage human resources items and training for employees, as well as logistics, property, space, records and files, printing/graphics, mail and travel. Determine the budget and administration workload; inform employees of management goals and objectives, and provide sound advice to team members on inspection procedures. Coordinate Battalion Headquarters protocol and ceremonial responsibilities as needed. Perform Administrative Functions to include preparation of periodic personnel reports, review of evaluations/awards, as well as creation and oversight of battalion personnel actions using prescribed database. Compile and analyze data to identify trends, deficiencies, and accomplishments related to assigned programs. Specialized experience is defined as: Providing a variety of management and administrative services essential to operations of an organization such as a battalion (i.e. management oversight, information systems, budget analysis, training, etc.); Conducting briefings on current or proposed command policies; Assisting with the preparation of staff studies and position papers to defend program initiatives which may impact both military and civilian personnel; Assisting with providing counsel to management on budget and administration workload. OR A Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
