Position Type: Support StaffDate Posted: 11/26/2024Location: Marion Middle SchoolTitle: Food Services Assistant Immediate Supervisor: Food Services Manager Location: Various Paygrade: Food Service Pay Scale Position Purpose Responsible for preparing and serving nutritional meals to students and staff in the local schools. Essential Functions:
  • Performs daily duties to include: moving food to preparation area; preparing food for cooking and serving; cooking food; serving food; storing food; cleaning utensils and equipment; cleaning work and dining areas; cashiering; setting up serving lines;
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate flexibility and initiative in performing a variety of assignments;
  • Follows proper sanitation and safe food handling procedures;
  • Serves, assists, and helps customers. Meets customers needs;
  • Attends designated meetings and training classes;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager or assistant manager;

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Works typically in a school cafeteria setting with kitchen, serving line and storage areas. Extended periods of standing required. Frequent bending and lifting of food containers, food and pots weighing 10-30 pounds is required. Occasional bending and lifting up to 45 pounds of items such as cases of food. Occasional exposure to damp floors, steam from equipment and potentially caustic cleaning materials is necessary. Daily contact with principal, school staff, teachers and students is necessary. Occasional contact is made with visitors and the general public. Education and Experience Any combination of background and experience equivalent to high school graduation and some knowledge of or experience in quantity food preparation.
