$46.97 - $75.15 Hourly$97,701 - $156,322 AnnuallyThis position is a Pay Band EIPosting DetailsInterviews are anticipated to be conducted within two (2) weeks of the closing date. Why does the job exist?Manage the District Surveying Crew and Design Section, ensuring that quality designs are prepared and projects are designed and let on schedule. Position will ensure work performed by the District Technical Support Section and District Survey Crews are in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Local and Department Laws, Regulations, and Standards. How does it get done?Identifying project scope of work based on roadway conditions, needs, and available budget. Determining level of effort for survey work for assigned projects and coordinating the schedule of the District Survey Crew. Project details, such as typical sections, guardrail, signing, T.O.s , fencing, striping, etc., along with highway related calculations, implementation of design criteria (AASHTO Guidelines, Department Design Guidelines, etc.) and utilization of AutoCADD and/or MicroStation and other related design software. Who are the customers?The traveling public. Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have experience in the following:*Highway operations, such as, highway construction, highway design or highway maintenance.*Developed or applied quality control or quality assurance measures.*Managing roadway project development.*Managing survey and mapping projects in support of project development.*Supervising personnel. Minimum QualificationBachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant engineering discipline with licensure and ten (10) years of engineering experience, five (5) of which must be as a Licensed Professional Engineer and (2) years of experience in a supervisory/managerial role. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling fourteen (14) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Must be certified by the NMBLPEPS as a Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing within six (6) months of hire. Substitution TableNo substitutions. Must possess required licensure, certification or registration and required number of years of experienceEmployment RequirementsRegistration as a Professional Engineer by the NM State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment physical exam and is conditional pending results. Driver's License verification and reference check required. Working ConditionsWork is performed primarily in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer to include working with computers, faxes, copiers, printers and phone usage.
