Job Description:

Mobile Equipment Operator 1 or 2

LSU Alexandria is seeking an applicant for the position of Mobile Equipment Operator 1 or 2.

As part of a Career Progression Group (CPG), this vacancy may be filled from this recruitment as a (Mobile Equipment Operator 1 or 2) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.

Starting rate of pay for a Mobile Equipment Operator 1 is $16.06 per hour and Mobile Equipment Operator 2 is $17.18 per hour.

To operate mobile equipment (such as that enumerated below) to accomplish transportation, maintenance, or construction tasks.

LEVEL OF WORK:

Advanced.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

General from a Foreman or other higher level maintenance, supervisory, or administrative personnel.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

May exercise functional supervision over lower graded equipment operators or laboring personnel.

LOCATION OF WORK:

May be used by all agencies, statewide.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:

Differs from Mobile Equipment Operator 1 by the requirement to operate mobile equipment that is larger or has more complicated operating and handling characteristics.

Differs from Mobile Equipment Operator 1--Heavy by the restriction to primary operation of equipment that is lighter and/or less complicated to operate.

Mobile Equipment Operator 1 or 2 Job Duties:

50% Operates forklift to transport, load, unload and store supplies and equipment. Operates and maintains front-end loader and box blade attachment. Makes minor repairs to and cleans equipment as necessary to keep it in good working order. Operates and performs preventative maintenance on ALL lawn equipment. Operates weed-eaters, edgers, blowers and additional handheld power equipment. Operates commercial mowers.

20% Operates tractor to pick up trash from campus buildings and empty into dumpster behind Facility Services building. Operates golf cart to pick up campus mail from mailroom and deliver to various departments on campus.

20% Performs various mechanical work on all equipment at Facility Services including but not limited to all tractors, lawn mowers, power equipment and all vehicles in the fleet, including inspections and oil changes.

5% Operates trucks with trailers for hauling materials, equipment, and supplies on and off campus.

5% Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
