Communicates and coordinates with other healthcare team members to meet the needs of patients and staff in a variety of activities related to transferring patients and equipment.Job DescriptionMinimum QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or GED; preferred.Licenses/Certifications: (None).Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
  • One (1) year of experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Ability to assess and carry out the best method to transfer or reposition a patient considering patient and staff safety policies and guidelines.
  • Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged standing, walking, stooping, twisting (trunk), bending (waist), gripping/grasping, reaching below shoulder level, bed mobilization (scooting/rolling), lateral transfers (bed to gurney), bed to chair/wheelchair/commode transfer, automobile transfers, lifting up to 75 pounds, pushing/pulling over 150 pounds and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to understand written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations; demonstrates skills for assigned specialty area/function or assigned procedures, including a working knowledge of basic medical terminology and computer software skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform duties with increased responsibilities.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Develops, implements, and maintains processes/procedures that will effectively and efficiently accomplish the movement of patients, supplies, equipment, etc.
  • Coordinates lift team patient care to ensure schedules are met.
  • Transfers patients to and from wheelchair, stretcher or beds as requested.
  • Ensures routine preventative maintenance, safety inspection, and testing is done on all equipment.
  • Administers treatments or procedures as delegated by therapist, therapist assistant or nurse. These activities designated and defined by therapist/nurse may include, but are not limited to: transferring patients, therapeutic exercise program, functional activities, and mobility activities.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann's service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
