Pay: $25.80 - $38.70 / hour. Pay is dependenton applicant's relevant experienceSummary:Assists Mohs surgeon with the extraction of tissue during microscopically controlled excisions of skin cancer. Prepares and processes tissue sections for microscopic viewing using provided laboratory equipment.Responsibilities:Receives and processes specimens/pathology tissue using the laboratory equipment provided to prepare slides for viewing of the surgeon.Conduct staining procedures on human tissue samples to facilitate accurate visualization of skin cancers on microscope slides.Employ frozen section techniques to allow for rapid on-site evaluation of tissue margins during Mohs surgery while adhering to regulatory guidelines, laboratory safety protocols, and relevant healthcare regulations.Collaborates with pathologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to contribute to the overall success of Mohs surgeries. Provides direct support during Mohs surgical cases as needed.Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.Requirements:
- Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED. Completion of Medical Assistant program through an accredited school or program that meets the criteria of a medical assistant program, such as a military-prepared corpsman or medic.
- Required Licensure/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
- Minimum Experience: None Required. Preferred: 1 year of experience in med-surg or 6 months of experience as a Mohs MA, Mohs Tech or Histotech.
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
