Job Summary The role of a Mold Maker I is to use proficient mold making methods and techniques to ensure high quality silicone and urethane parts. This position can successfully create silicone molds for a wide variety of geometries to ensure maximum efficiency in the department. The ability to organize multiple projects is crucial for success. Essential Functions
  • Be sought out to provide training and/or solutions to less experienced technicians
  • Identify material properties and applications based on job requirements
  • Change silicone dispenser barrels
  • Identify pneumatic complications and troubleshoot accordingly
  • Lay-up molds with correct parting line and venting locations
  • Perform diagnostics on all mold types and implement accurate, effective solutions
  • Recognize malfunctions of urethane and silicone dispensers and troubleshoot accordingly
  • Apply knowledge of material reactions and additives as needed per job
  • Assist in maintaining and organizing production supply and material inventory
  • Recognize malfunctions of urethane and silicone dispensers and troubleshoot accordingly
  • Inspect cast part features and surfaces for imperfections or anomalies
  • Assist in detecting differences in colors, including shades of color and brightness
  • Perform visual inspection of parts per specifications
  • Operate department equipment such as hand tools, power tool, media blasters, and others as required
  • Collaborate with supervisor, project managers, and other shop personnel to clarify project requirements and resolve issues
  • Assist with cleaning and preventative maintenance of machines, tools, and workstations
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
  • Performs essential functions of Casting Technician
  • Other duties as assigned
Technical Competencies
  • Proficient Knowledge of mold making techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of material properties and applications
  • Advanced knowledge of casting workflows and processes
  • Proficient knowledge of color wheel and color harmonies
  • Advanced shop math and measurement
  • Proficient knowledge of print reading
  • Basic knowledge of the ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards
  • Proficient knowledge of commonly used hand and power tools

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1+ years' experience in manufacturing industry
  • 1+ years' experience as a Casting Technician preferred
Work Hours/Travel:
  • 1st shift work schedule, Monday – Friday, overtime as necessary
  • Remote work not available
  • No travel required
