JOB TITLE: Molding Shift ManagerDEPARTMENT: MoldingREPORTS TO: Molding Production ManagerSUPERVISES: Team Leader, Production Assistants, Material Handler, PackerFLSA STATUS: Exempt / SalaryJOB SUMMARYA Shift Manager overviews the daily Molding activities and how TeamMates perform during their shift. They are responsible for maximizing customer satisfaction by meeting quality standards and expectations. They are also in charge of maintaining a tidy and organized workspace stocked with essential supplies, while ensuring that production runs smoothly.CORE RESPONSIBILITIESSupervisory Responsibilities:•Monitoring daily employee performance using discipline, 30/60/90-day reviews as well as yearly performance reviews.•Ensuring customer satisfaction through quality standards.•Managing employee schedules and time off.•Making sure that Production needs are met and focuses on Availability, Performance and Quality, OEE as a measure.DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:On a daily basis, you will supervise TeamMates during your shift and make sure that they complete their tasks and are motivated to work effectively. Shift Manager skills include contributing to the production strategy by knowing the business goals and how to achieve them. You will also act as a reference point for TeamMates and remain ready to fix problems that occasionally arise. Positions responsible for - Team Leader, QCS, Production Assistant, Quality Packer, Production Assistant/ Packer Hybrid, Material Handler/ Packer Hybrid, Packer 1, Seasonal Associates. Shared responsibility for - Driver/ Material Handler/ Packer, Mold Setter 1 and Shift Mold Setter.
  • Ensure Company Safety Procedures and regulations are followed.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment with zero workplace incidents due to unsafe acts and unsafe conditions, and no lost time incidents. Completes weekly EHS audits, monthly Safety Talks, Red Alerts, Near Miss and Incident investigation reports as required.
  • Exhibits knowledge of proper handling of equipment and Safety Procedures.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Company policies and guidelines.
  • Makes housekeeping a day-to-day practice by ensuring that the SQF guidelines are followed as a matter of routine. Internal inspections should result in few, if any, corrective actions. Corrective actions must be addressed in a timely fashion and not repeat in subsequent Whirley inspections.
  • Manage daily schedules, TeamMate shifts, and time-off requests in ADP.
  • Assign duties to TeamMates and oversee their progress.
  • Coach, counsel, discipline, monitor, and appraise job results. To be addressed in the 30-60-90-day meetings, documentations, and yearly reviews.
  • Handle TeamMate complaints and resolve conflicts between TeamMates.
  • Enforces the proper disciplinary measures when TeamMates fail to adhere to company policy.
  • Oversees TeamMate training sessions and identifies development needs.
  • Ensure that daily production goals are met while monitoring Scrap and Downtime.
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality of products produced and instilling a zero defects mind set.
  • Participates in and provides feedback on quality improvement and corrective action projects.
  • Cooperates in the investigation of customer complaints so that root causes can be determined and eliminated.
  • Demonstrates ability to think creatively and innovatively to devise new production strategies.
  • Transfer products and other objects to and from the work centers/ warehouse areas on occasion.
  • Can respond quickly and calmly to emergency situations.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with all TeamMates and Departments.
  • Attends meetings as needed. Kaizen, CI, Shift Manager, etc....
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, attending internal company trainings and meetings.
  • Other duties, as requested.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Previous experience as a Shift Manager or similar role.
  • Full understanding of Company Safety Standards.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of basic software, such as Word and Excel.
  • Working well within a team.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Leadership and conflict-management skills.
  • High School Diploma
    • A degree in Management is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Standing up for long hours.
  • Occasionally lifting heavy loads.
  • Must wear Steel Toed boots
