DescriptionPOSITION TITLE: Special Education Teacher - Secondary Emotion ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: Responsible for the planning and implementation of program instructionalservices provided to students in special education center based programs.PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITIES:1. Develop and write re-evaluation reports based on the results of assessments, data collection, and reviewof records.2. Develop and deliver an appropriate IEP for students.3. Evaluate students' academic performance, behavior and social progress toward their IEP goals throughdata collection, student work and observation.4. Prepare progress reports, report cards and other state/district mandated paperwork/forms withinestablished timelines.5. Maintain accurate special education paperwork, data, and student records that are in compliance withfederal and state regulations and AIU /District guidelines. 6. Establish and enforce rules for positive behavior, and procedures for maintaining a learningenvironment for students.7. Collaborate and communicate with parents, education personnel and other service providers to developand implement Individual Education Plans (IEP) designed to increase student learning through speciallydesigned instruction and accommodations for students' needs.8. Demonstrate an understanding of the curriculum, and make adaptations and modifications to meetindividual needs.9. Follow all administrative policies and rules governing students.10. Complete other duties as assigned by the building principal or special education supervisor.11. Maintain a professional demeanor at all times, following all AIU policies, building procedures andPennsylvania professional code of conduct.12. Work collaboratively with co-workers; including the proper management of support staff within theclassroom.13. Utilize e-mail, Microsoft Office programs, and student informational systems ( i.e. IEP Writer,Eschool) to manage communication, information and records.Qualifications1. Valid PA certification in Special Education PK-8 or N-12 required.2. Experience working with the special education school age population preferred.3. Effective verbal and written communication skills.4. Ability to build trust and positive working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholder groups.5. Excellent collaboration and leadership skills.6. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.7. Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible.8. Ability to comply with the AIU Conduct policy. Additional Requirements: 1. Current Act 114, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR clearances required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date).2. School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.
