Description
This position is located out of our Plaza Health Center in SE Portland. The schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Money Management Specialist is responsible for working with clients and their treatment team to address issues related to money management, while supporting a trauma-informed care environment. With the high prevalence of trauma among individuals receiving mental health services it is required that the incumbent understand the effects of trauma on health, coping, and other aspects of the lives of those we serve. The Money Management program provides Social Security payee-ship services for adult clients with severe and persistent mental illness. Services include budgeting and financial skills training. This position monitors deposits into individual accounts and disperses money according to individual plans, provides support and skills training to clients to assure maintenance of basic needs
Essential Duties:

* Maintain list of all clients on caseload and work with clients to establish monthly budget, identifying on going expenses and amount remaining for personal spending. Identify checks which are able to be mailed directly to landlords, utility companies, etc., and frequency of disbursement of spending money checks.
* Work with clinicians and residential management on an on-going basis to assure that the money management plan is consistent with, and identified in, individual treatment plans.
* Disperse checks to clients during agreed upon Money Management hours and according to individual plan, using this time as an opportunity to check in with clients and identify on-going issues and reinforce positive skills of behaviors as indicated in treatment plan.
* Monitor the amount of money accumulating in the account; update/amend budgets as needed.
* Prepare the monthly Money Management Fee schedule, charging clients' accounts accordingly and the program specific fees.
* Maintain correct and up to date information on client demographics, income, and monthly expenses for housing, utilities, and other required expenses.
* Demonstrate responsibility for safety of consumers, staff, and property; is familiar with fire regulations and evacuation procedures.
* Provide input on all relevant documentation and procedural requirements and treatment planning in collaboration with administrators, case managers and skills trainers.
* Provide input toward the money management treatment plan in collaboration with administrators, case managers, and skills trainers.
* Maintain accurate, concise client records, adhere to mandatory abuse reporting laws and HIPAA requirements and attend required trainings.
* Perform basic limit setting and other behavior interventions with clients.
* Observe client behavior over time and provide feedback to case management and/or medical staff.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* The incumbent must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Relevant college coursework is preferred.
* Understanding or knowledge of working with individuals with mental and emotional health challenges as well as substance abuse/dependency issues.
* Must have a basic understanding of accounting practices and principals
* Ability to type 50 wpm
* Familiarity with basic office equipment, i.e., fax machines, printers, copiers
* Proficiency in computer hardware and software (including Electronic Health Record software) at a level needed to effectively perform job functions
* Proficiency with QuickBooks
* Advanced skills with PC systems, including Access, MS Windows, MS Word , Power Point, and MS Excel preferred, and ability to enter and retrieve data
* Possess a valid driver's license, three year driving history; clean driving record, ability to pass Driver Motor Vehicle (DMV) check and complete the Cascadia online Defensive Driving course.
Working Conditions
* Ability to perform CPR and BLS (Basic Life Support)
* Work is performed in an office setting. The nature of work involves extended periods of sitting and standing. The majority of work is done utilizing a computer and keyboard.
* Must have the ability to assist the team in providing safety to all clients and staff in potentially volatile situations.
* Occasionally lifting (20 to 50 lbs.), climbing (stairs), crouching, reaching, and running
* Regularly sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and keyboarding
* Constant visual and auditory
