Responsible for the monitoring, interpretation, and communication of patient heart rhythms. Performs EKGs as ordered. Monitors and communicates any changes for patients with capnography.

Responsibilities:
Key Accountability/Clinical excellence
- Monitors patient heart rhythms.
- Interprets heart rhythms and documents tracings per unit guidelines.
- Communicates all changes in heart rhythms and/or capnography to the provider.
- Cleans and tracks all telemetry devices.
- Cleans and tracks all vocera devices.
- Ensures accommodation codes are up to date.
Key Accountability/Patient Care
- Performs 12-lead EKGs as ordered.
- Assists with telemetry monitor positioning as needed.

- Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
- Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
- Completes all annual education and competency requirements
- Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalency
Certified Nursing Assistant
Emergency Medical Technician Certification
Paramedic Certification
Experience:
Certified nursing assistant in an acute care environment
License(s)/Certification(s):
Certified in Basic Life Support within 90 days of hire
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Basic computer knowledge and the ability to document accurately and timely
Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a varied patient population and the health care team
Effectively communicates with all team members, physicians, ancillary staff and all customers.
Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology is preferred
Other:
Completes annual mandatory education
Able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., face mask, goggles, latex/non-latex gloves) as needed
Seeks to be involved in unit improvements, quality projects, and other enhancements to patient care.
