The Morgan Stanley Family Office (MSFO) Group within Private Wealth Management is responsible for delivering solutions to Family Office clients across administration, investment management, and specialized service needs. MSFO is a critical partner to the Firm's top advisors and clients, and works heavily with the Global Investment Office (GIO) and Institutional Securities Group (ISG).
Position Summary and Responsibilities:
As an Associate on the Morgan Stanley Family Office Strategy & Business Management team, the candidate will be responsible for working on the business' most critical strategic questions, including topics such as growth, profitability, multi-year planning, technology investments, and competitive dynamics. This individual will join a team of high performers in identifying and sizing opportunities, assessing relevant industry trends, modeling key financial scenarios, and developing key recommendations to drive the groups future success and competitive advantage.
The role requires a self-starter with strong communication and problem solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and uncertain environment. The candidate must be a team-player with strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability effectively collaborate with colleagues across a diverse range of functional groups. The candidate will be expected to assume full ownership of their assignments, assist in driving meaningful solutions, and effectively communicate their recommendations with the project team. Additionally, the candidate must be comfortable conducting independent research, building financial models, analyzing financial information, and preparing reports and presentations designed to provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
Key tasks the candidate will be expected to perform include:
* Work collaboratively in a high performing team responsible for identifying, assessing, reporting, and capturing operational strategic and organizational business analysis and high-level initiative.
* Manage work streams by managing to deadlines and consulting with key partners across other groups within wealth management including but not limited to (Product, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Technology, WM Field)
* Analyze, optimize, and define business processes and procedures to drive scale
* Complex data analyses to drive insights, conclusions, and recommendations (including financial modeling)
* Research and intelligence gathering on major and emerging competitors, including financial performance, growth drivers, positioning, products and new initiatives
* Creating and delivering concise and effective presentations to communicate the business strategy across products, segments, and channels
* Presenting and participating in discussions with senior management
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree with strong academic record
* 3+ years of relevant post-undergraduate experience (e.g., top-tier management consulting firm, investment bank, or Fortune 500 corporate strategy team)
* Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
* Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Data analysis experience with robust financial modeling skills
* Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $80,000 and $110,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
